WHAT IS CREATIVE ARTS CAMP AT LIFEPOINT CHURCH?

Students who have completed grades K-5 will have an opportunity to explore the Arts through drama, dance, vocal music, percussion, visual arts, puppetry and more.  While campers are exploring the Arts, they will also be learning how to find their God-given talent and follow God while using the talents.

Campers will select a Focus Group to be their area of interest for our Friday night showcase.  This exciting camp will group students by age with both a Counselor and Counselor-in Training.  Campers will travel with their small groups and build relationships throughout the week. Creative Arts Camp is an unforgettable experience!

LifePoint Church’s Creative Arts camp exists so that children:

  • Discover more about Jesus and His desire to be their friend.
  • Build relationships with peers and camp staff who model for them how to follow God.
  • Experience different forms that worship can take while honing the talents God has placed within them.
  • Celebrate God through the Arts.

    DAILY WORKSHOPS

The Campers will go to classes each day for four days and work in the following areas so that they can experience different facets of the Creative Arts:

    Bible:

Campers will enjoy daily Bible lessons presented in creative ways.  They will learn practical applications to use in everyday situations.

    Bucket Band:

Campers will find a whole new beat by exploring a variety of rhythm exercises using non-traditional instruments.

    Dance:

Campers will focus on interpreting music through creative movement. They will work on the dances that they will perform for the opening and closing of the Friday night showcase.

    Drama:

Campers will sharpen performance skills through a variety of theatre games, improvisation, and exercises in character development.

    Visual Arts/Puppetry:

Campers will creatively build a puppet that they will use as they learn the fundamentals of puppetry.  Using their puppets the campers will also learn how to lip sync with music.

    Vocal Music:

Campers will work on using their voices to praise God. They will work on the songs that they will perform for the opening and closing of the Friday night showcase.

STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FOCUS GROUPS

During registration, campers will select one of the following Focus Groups. This is a specialized interest class made up of various ages.

Focus Groups will meet one period every day to rehearse/prepare for their final performance or activity in the Friday evening Showcase.

We will do our best to place all campers in their desired Focus Groups.  However, in order to give campers the most beneficial camp experience, group sizes must be limited.

Bucket Band Focus Group will perform Stomp-like numbers using a variety of bucket-like drums.

Creative Writing Focus Group will write a variety of prompts focusing on different styles and they will share their creations during the Showcase.

Dance Focus Group will perform several different style dances for the Friday evening Showcase.

Drama Focus Group will perform several short sketches for the drama portions of the Showcase.

Puppetry Focus Group (limited to 3rd-5th graders) will perform puppet show presentations for the Friday Showcase.

Visual Arts Focus Group will use various mediums in 2-D and 3-D for their creative expression. The work of these artists will decorate our lobby and these groups will also present their work on stage during the Showcase.

Vocal Music Focus Group will sing several songs with solo parts during the Showcase.

Video Production (limited to 5th grade only) will be trained in video production. They will then have the opportunity to use their skills as they record the Showcase. The work of this Video Production group will be available to each camper as a download.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Should my child pack a lunch?

YES! Every child should pack a NUT FREE lunch along with a water bottle – please label everything!  Please have your child eat a large breakfast so they are ready for the day!

What if my child needs medication?

All medications should be dropped off with camp staff the first day with specific instructions.  This will happen at the LifePoint Welcome Desk in the main lobby.

How will I know what my child is doing at camp?

Every day your family will receive an email (to the email address in the registration) called “The Daily Wrap” which will be packed with all kinds of important information about what happened that day at camp.  Please read this so you can stay informed!

How will I know what my child needs for the Friday showcase?

Take a peek at “The Daily Wrap” (see the question above) as all of that information will be available to you.

What is the difference between a color group and a focus group?

The COLOR group is a group of kids in the same grade as your child who will travel together throughout the day. Color groups correspond to rainbow colors, with red for kids who have completed Kindergarten, orange for kids who have completed 1st grade, yellow for kids who have completed 2nd grade, and so on.

The FOCUS group is group of kids in various grades who are working on a specific genre of art for the Friday night performance.

    Where is lost and found?

We know it is really hard to keep track of everything so we will have a lost and found bin behind the LifePoint Welcome Desk.  This bin will be available Monday-Friday and during the Friday night performance.

Who can pick up my child?

We take safety seriously at Creative Arts Camp.  We will ask for a list of authorized people who can pick up your child and a team member will verify this before we release your child at pick up.  IF you need to add someone to the list, we ask that you let the Camp Director know as soon as possible.
