By now you have heard of the devastating earthquake that has rocked Haiti. The reality of what has happened is almost too much to comprehend. This tiny, impoverished nation was making incremental progress toward wholeness and hope. Now this.
In the early nineties, I was part of a team from our church that spent time in Haiti. This was the first short-term missions trip for our young church. The sights, the smells, the people, the experiences marked me for life. I stood at some of the very places in Port-au-Prince that are now reduced to piles of powdered concrete and twisted rubble.
In moments like this the church is called to be the church. Of course we can pray, asking God to help this shattered population experience a rebirth: towns rebuilt and people redeemed. But in addition to prayer, we can give. I am inviting you to continue the pattern of generosity that has become so familiar to LifePoint Church.
We are receiving contributions to benefit the people of Haiti. Please consider a generous financial donation. Make your checks payable to LifePoint Church and write Haiti Relief on the memo line. Our church is passing along funds through World Relief, a reputable, international organization with manpower and assets in Haiti. (Click here to hear Sammy Mah, CEO World Relief)
Throughout history the Body of Christ has often discovered that its finest hour is in the middle of devastation and suffering. Now, you and I have the chance to be part of history. Thanks for caring enough to be involved.
Gratefully in His grace,
Joe Duke
Sr. Pastor
