"Help for Uniquely Gifted Souls"

HUGS, as it is often referred to as, is a ministry for children, teens and young adults with special needs. Our mission is to influence individuals with disabilities and their families to find and follow Jesus. The "Stages" video below provides examples of how our students are influencing many other people to do the same.

HUG Kids*

We provide special one-on-one buddies to assist students who require it in order to participate fully in weekend children and student ministries activities. HUG Kids is available at both Sunday services, and  and on a priority basis only on Saturdays @ 4:30pm.

Special Huggers*

The Special Huggers class is a Bible class designed for children with special needs, who need more individualized attention or a smaller classroom size. Classes generally include music, a bible story, craft and  motor activity.  The Special Huggers class is currently offered to children from ages 4 through 9 at the 10:45am Sunday service, and for children 10 and up at the 9:00am Sunday service. Saturday HUGS is available based on a priority listing.

HUG Givers*

Additionally, we provide a class for developmentally challenged teens and  adults. Our HUG Givers class meets at 9:00am and 10:45am on Sunday mornings, and teaches biblical truths through creative lessons and music to those with developmental disabilities of all levels. There are currently openings for students at the 9:00am service.

* We ask that you contact Sandy McCann prior to your first visit so placement options can be discussed, and ask a parent to remain  in their child's classroom during at least their first visit to HUGS. We will begin providing services after our intake process is complete and as staff is available. Parents are asked to select a service time that their child will regularly attend.

HUGS Family Fun Day 2012

HUGS Family Fun Day

Please come and join us on Sunday, June 2, from 12:45-3:45pm. Our Family Fun Day is a free event for people with disabilities, family members and caregivers, and support agencies.  It's a good old fashioned summer carnival, complete with games and activities for all ability levels. Many of the activities have prizes for participation. This event is free, but we are asking those who are able to bring a canned or boxed food item to be donated to a local food pantry. There will be a food concession available at nominal cost.  Please click here to register.

HUGS Roundtable

The HUGS Roundtable (ministry training) is the entry point into HUGS for all prospective volunteers, as well as for other churches interested in beginning disability ministries. Our next Roundtable will be held on Sunday, May 20.  Please click here to register.
